A toll account is an account into which you prepay money that the allows you to dial in to the Queen's toll modem pools.
The toll dial-in lines allow you to connect your computer to Queen's more readily than the free lines. Since the free dial-in lines are very heavily used, you often have to wait through many redials before getting a connection. Using the toll dial-in lines does not give you another email account.

The minimum payment to start a new toll account is $5.00, but you can put more money in the account if you wish. You can make payments in person through Campus Computer Sales & Service, or online at http://ccstore.queensu.ca. Time may be purchased using a University account number (by ISR) or with a credit card (minimum $10).
You are charged for your online time at a prescribed rate per minute. You are only charged for the time you spend online; there is no minimum session charge.
Note: If you dial long distance to reach the toll modem pool, the normal long distance rates that your telephone service provide charges will apply.
Remember that typing "logout" or closing your web browser is not enough to disconnect your dial-in session; you must choose the disconnect command in your dial-in software.

To check the balance of your toll account, use your Queen's email account to send a message to dialacct@queensu.ca. The text of the message can be anything, a blank line will do. The system will automatically send you a reply telling you how much money you have remaining in your account. If you have run out of money on your Toll Account your balance will be given as a negative.
If you use all your funds during a session you will be allowed to continue your session uninterrupted. The next time you connect you will receive the error message "access denied". You will need to add more money to your Toll account before you can access it again. Note: you will still be able to access your account through the free dial-in lines or on campus.
To see a complete history of your Toll account usage send an email to dialacct@queensu.ca with the word history as the subject. The text of the message can be anything, a blank line will do.
