Kyushu University

Kyushu University is the largest public university on the island of Kyūshū. It is located in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka. The university is among the top 3 (after Tokyo University and Osaka University) destination of foreign students.

The Faculty of Law, Kyushu University initiated Japan's first English language LL.M program in October 1994. Taught from a Japanese perspective, the one year program offers students the opportunity to study international economic and business law, and Japanese and comparative law in a Japanese law faculty.

Jen Chen, who participated in an exchange with Kyushu University talks about her experience:

This Summer I went to Kyushu University to study the Japanese language and to embrace their culture. This program was 6 weeks long, which was perfect for me to make a lot of new friends and get a taste of Japan.

I lived with a host family in a small typical Japanese home. They were really nice and treated me like a member of the family. Often we talked with electronic dictionaries and Google translator, but the house was often filled with joy and laughter.

Life at Kyushu was amazing, the environment, the culture, Mount Aso, infrastructures and their beautiful subway systems are all a part of my most treasured memories!
