NY Portuguese Short Film Festival highlights

On October 6th, Kingston Hall hosted the Premiere of the VI Edition of the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival.

This year, the Festival brought shorts and 2 invited shorts by Portugal’s most promising filmmakers. The Festival is now in its six year of existence, and since last May took place in New York, Lisbon, Cascais,London, Sydney, Bangkok, Sao Paulo, Mozambique, South Africa, Montreal and Rio de Janeiro. The last edition of the NYPSFF was presented in the United States, Portugal, United Kingdom, Australia,China, Brasil, Angola, Mozambique, South of Africa, Poland, Germany, Canada, Check Republic , France and Senegal – 15 countries and 29 cities.

The event was well attended by Queen's and Kingston community. Special guest, Counsellor / Deputy Head of Mission of the Portuguese Embassy, Mr. Filipe Ramalheira gave a short introduction before the screening began. His speech was followed by a welcome by Dr. Christiane Arndt, the Associate Head of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures as well as by Mr. António Macedo, the Adjunct Lecturer of Portuguese at LLCU.
