Kendall Rankin

Kendall is one of our first LLCU majors and is currently going into her second year. She loves languages and learning about other cultures:

" I decided to pursue a degree in LLCU after I took a few LLCU courses in first year and loved each one of them. I knew it was the right fit for me when I read the description of the courses in the department and was incredibly excited to take each course that was offered. I love learning new languages and gaining more knowledge about other cultures and I have been able to do exactly that and much more in the LLCU program. I personally do not find LLCU to be challenging and that is simply because I enjoy every class that I take. I loved my LLCU courses that I took in first year so for me, showing up to class every day and working hard in each course is not a challenge at all but something that I look forward to.

My favorite aspect about the major is the amazing people who I have met in the program who all share similar interests as myself. It is so much fun to learn a new language with other people who are just as enthusiastic about it as you are! When I complete my degree I plan to continue my education by getting a graduate degree but I have yet to decide what I will study. I want to travel the world and hopefully be able to interact with people from all over and be able to apply what I have learned through LLCU to better immerse myself in other countries and cultures around the globe.

I have had the best experience with all the professors in the LLCU department. They were always so willing to help out not only during their office hours but whenever it was most convenient for the students as well. I really enjoyed the fact that a lot of my professors were bilingual and had lived in other countries which allowed them to share personal experiences that directly related to the course material. Through the LLCU department I was able to volunteer as a Conversation Group Leader with the QBridge students. I really enjoyed my experience with the conversation groups because the students taught me a lot about their cultures and languages and I was able to help them feel more comfortable in the Queen’s community. I look forward to many more opportunities that I will have through the LLCU department."
