Program Assistant, LLCU Semester in Shanghai

Location: Shanghai, China

Responsibilities:  The Program Assistant’s primary responsibility will be to act as a front-line advisor for Queen’s students at Fudan University, Shanghai. The Program Assistant will organise orientation sessions for the incoming Queen’s students, act as an assistant for LLCU 432 (Field Research Practicum course), provide support to Queen’s staff at Fudan, and maintain and observe regular office hours through the academic term. This work also involves providing timely first stage help and support to Queen’s students regarding non-academic and academic issues. The LLCU Semester Abroad program runs for 15 weeks from September to December 2014, at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Applicants can learn more about the programme at

Time commitment: This position requires a minimum availability of 2 days/week from early August to mid December 2014.


  • Fluency in English and excellent communications skills
  • Chinese language skills would be an asset
  • Previous experience living in Shanghai
  • Outstanding leadership and people skills
  • Be approachable and caring
  • Familiarity with LLCU’s Semester Abroad Program in Shanghai
  • Experience in event planning and logistics
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with Fudan University faculty, staff and students is important as is the ability to work independently and in team. 

Salary: The Academic Assistant will receive a salary of $4000, plus accommodation and international travel costs.
