For the 2008/09 samba season, under the continued Direction of Daniel Shipp, the "Escola de Samba: Bateria Lessons and Rehearsal" will be presented by Queen's Conversatory of Music in partnership with Samba Kingston. Daniel brings to this unique program over 25 years of experience playing various percussion instruments from around the world. He has played with many classical, jazz, rock and world beat ensembles, most recently performing with World Beats Queen's and Wuawuanco Todos. He has also played with Samba Ottawa and with the Escola de Samba de Toronto as a caixa player.

Daniel is a resident of Kingston and a graduate of the Queen's School of Policy Studies. He is the founder/owner of Samba Kingston and by day Daniel works as a Planner for Kingston Hospitals.
