Additional Information

This course involves private instrumental or vocal instruction for B.Mus. students. It consists of 23 individual weekly lessons (or an equivalent amount of time every fortnight). Weekly practice time must justify the full credit involved. Students play a final jury examination in the week following the end of classes in April. The final course mark consists of an average of the jury mark and the instructor’s mark for work completed during the academic year. The evaluation for the year, given by the instructor in consultation with the area coordinator, is based on technical and interpretive development, application, motivation and attitude, as well as participation in studio recitals and other events organized by the School of Music. Requirements (e.g. repertoire, memorization, etc.) vary by area.

Preregistration for MUSC 421 is possible if the student has successfully completed MUSC 321.
