Addiction Research Day3.jpg

On November 22, 2011, the Centre for Neuroscience Studies hosted about 70 local high school students for a morning devoted to the science of addiction.  Numerous demonstrations, experiments and lectures were used to educate young Kingstonians about the science of additive behaviours, the legal penalties for engaging in illegal drugs and the human side of addiction.  The morning began with tours of several neuroscience research laboratories studying the biology of addiction.  The Kingston Police Department was also on hand to discuss the legalities of drug use and Kingston's Street Health Centre brought into light the human side of addiction and its long-term impact on individuals and their families. In addition, all participants received a free morning snack and a pizza lunch.
