Alumni named to the Order of Canada
Gordon Nixon, Com'79, LLD'03, and Walter Rosser, Meds'67, were named Members of the Order of Canada by the Governor-General of Canada on June 30.
Mr. Nixon was honoured for his contributions to banking in Canada through his leadership of one of Canada’s largest banks, and for his personal voluntarism and philanthropy.
Dr. Rosser, who is the former head of the Queen's Family Medicine Department, was honoured for his leadership in the discipline of family medicine and primary care research, and for his contributions to the establishment of practice-based research networks in Canada.
Dr. Walter Rosser, Meds'67Astronaut Julie Payette and TD Bank CEO W. Edmund Clark, who each received an honorary degree from Queen’s, were also named to the Order of Canada.
The Order of Canada recognizes Canadians for outstanding lifetime achievements. New appointments are made twice yearly.
