Alumnus George Anderson is one of 10 new mentors for the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation.

A Queen’s alumnus is one of 10 new mentors for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. George R.M. Anderson, Arts’67 (Political Studies), will provide personal and professional guidance to a Canadian doctoral student who has received a prestigious Trudeau Foundation Scholarship. Each year, the foundation matches accomplished Canadians as mentors with promising scholars in their study of critical social issues.

Mr. Anderson is the President and CEO of the Forum of Federations, an Ottawa-based non-profit organization. He served for more than 30 years in Canada’s federal public service, where his positions included Deputy Minister of Natural Resources (2002-2005) and Deputy Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs in the Privy Council Office (1996-2002). He is the author of two noted books on federalism, and is the editor of two more books to be published this year. He is also a member of the Queen’s Board of Trustees.

The 2011 Trudeau Scholarship winners will be announced later this spring. Last year, PhD student Erin Tolley became the first Queen’s student to be named a Trudeau Scholar.
