BFA admissions to resume in 2013
The university will admit students to the Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) program in the fall of 2013 following eight months of collaborative effort by administrators, faculty members and students.
“We have re-assessed the program and are now confident in our ability to continue to deliver a high quality curriculum that will maintain the program’s integrity, hence the decision to re-open admissions to the program for 2013-14,” says Gordon Smith, Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science.
The Faculty of Arts and Science has been working to assess the BFA program and its capacity in future years since the suspension of admissions to the program for the 2012-13 academic year was announced in November 2011, the aim of which was to re-assess the sustainability of the BFA program. A BFA Planning Committee, including faculty, staff and students has explored in depth the possibilities for curricular changes that would lead to remodeling the BFA program, a process that has led to the decision to reinstate admissions for 2013-14.
The Faculty of Arts and Science will continue to participate with the BFA Program in this planning process over the coming year.
Ongoing updates and announcements will be posted to the BFA website.
