Book explores Canada-US relations under Mulroney

On the 25th Anniversary of Brian Mulroney’s tenure as Prime Minister, Queen’s University’s Centre for the Study of Democracy is releasing a book that explores Mulroney’s relationship with then US President George H.W. Bush.

Age of the Offered Hand co-editor Arthur Milnes, a fellow of the Centre who helped Mulroney write his memoirs, says the relationship was a model of joint leadership. "President Bush Sr. devoted more attention to Canada and Canadian concerns than any President up to his time, and Mr. Mulroney understood the US system more than any previous occupant of 24 Sussex Drive. The result was an impressive partnership.”

The book is being launched tonight in Montreal at a party celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mulroney’s 1984 electoral win.

Age of the Offered Hand can be ordered at www.queensu.ca/sps/books.

It’s the fourth volume in the Centre’s series called “The Library of Political Leadership.”
