Campus busy all summer long
Queen’s campus is far from dormant over the summer months. Even though classes are out, and many students have left town, university residences and other facilities are gearing up for a busy summer.
“Campus is not asleep in the summer, as many people think - it is actually quite active” says Marilyn Casselman, manager of sales and marketing for Queen’s Event Services.
Queen’s Event Services co-ordinates the use of student residences for conference, sporting and special interest groups and individuals over the summer months. Some of the many groups taking advantage of accommodation and other services at Queen’s are:
Canadian Olympic Regatta Kingston
Royal Canadian Sea Cadets National Regatta
Suzuki Kingston Musicfest
Shad Valley
Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour
Friends for Life Bike Rally
Ambassador Cup of Soccer Tournament
Kingston Buskers Rendezvous
Fort Henry Tattoo Bands
International visitors to the Faculty of Education
Ms. Casselman says that summertime finds residence common rooms “full of camaraderie,” and comments that these events offer a wonderful opportunity to introduce young people to Queen’s.
