Cast your vote in CDS video contest

2011-03-14

When Queen’s Continuing and Distance Studies (CDS) launched a video contest last month they asked students: What is there to love about online summer school at Queen’s?

Judging by the entries received, the answer is: A lot! The submitted videos are original, creative, and reflect the many benefits of being able to take courses online. Now CDS would like you to vote for your favourite video.

“These videos indicate that Queen’s students are ambitious and eager to progress through their degrees, gain employment experience and travel as much as possible during our all-too-brief Ontario summer months,” says Film and Media professor Sidneyeve Matrix. “Taking eCourses might be the key to an ideal mix of work, leisure and learning.”

Dr. Matrix is teaching an online course this summer where she plans to incorporate real-time connectivity options through webcast lectures and online chats, and will ask her students to share their assignments on a blog to encourage peer-to-peer commenting, feedback, and dialogue.

The winner of the video contest will receive an iPad or a $650 gift card. Second, third and fourth place contestants will each receive a $100 gift card.

To vote for your favourite video, visit the contest YouTube page. For more information about the contest or about online summer courses at Queen’s, visit the CDS website.
