Employee rights and responsibilities in the event of a labour disruption

Frequently asked questions and answers about the impact of a potential CUPE labour disruption on employees have been posted to the university’s labour news site.

Mediation begins today between the union and the university. The parties will be in a legal strike/lockout position as of 12:01 am on Friday, July 29. The university is focused on reaching a negotiated settlement.

A list of questions affecting CUPE bargaining unit employees and as well as information for employees who are not in the CUPE bargaining unit can be found under the FAQ tab.

Question topics include pay, vacation, leaves, picket lines and building access. More will be added in the coming days.

The provost has sent a memo to all QUFA members outlining their rights and responsibilities under Article 12 of their collective agreement should a CUPE work stoppage occur.
