Flags on campus lowered for Stephen Gyimah
Flags on campus will be lowered today and will remain lowered until Wednesday, May 16 in honour of Stephen Gyimah, a faculty member in the Department of Sociology.
Dr. Gyimah joined Queen's in 2003. His research investigated issues that stand at the intersection of demography and sociology. He was involved in a wide range of research projects in Canada and sub-Saharan Africa (Ghana and Kenya).
Dr. Gyimah received several grants for his research including a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada grant on “Migration, Reproduction and Child Survival in sub-Saharan Africa” (2005-2008); and "Religion, Religiosity and Reproductive Behaviour in sub-Saharan Africa" (2009-2012).
Dr. Gyimah's family will receive friends at James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Tuesday, May 15 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Queen's University in Dr. Gyimah's memory.
