Flags lowered for Professor Emeritus Munt
Flags on campus are lowered in memory of Professor Emeritus Peter W. Munt.
Dr. Munt joined Queen’s faculty in 1974 and was the founder and inaugural chair of the Division of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine from 1975 until 1993. He was the founder and director of the Sleep Laboratory at Kingston General Hospital from 1978 until 1997.
Following an eight-year tenure as professor and head of the Department of Medicine from 1993 until 2001, Dr. Munt was appointed Chief of Staff, Kingston General Hospital, and Associate Dean, Health Institutions and Regional Liaison, Faculty of Health Sciences from 2001 until 2008. He was a leader and an inspirational figure for the Department of Medicine.
A private service will take place for Dr. Munt. For those wishing to remember Dr. Munt and his work, donations to either University Hospitals Kingston Foundation Palliative Care at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital or the Dr. Cameron Gray Fellowship Fund c/o Ontario Thoracic Society (18 Wynford Dr., # 401 Toronto, ON, M3C 0K8) would be appreciated by the family.
