Memorial services for Cameron Bruce
Cameron Bruce’s family is planning a funeral on September 25 in Connecticut and a celebration of his life in November to mourn the loss of the 18 year old first year student who died on campus on Monday.
The obituary from his hometown of Westport, Connecticut details his accomplishments at school and in music and swimming, as well as his active engagement in his community.
University Chaplain Brian Yealland has been spending time with students who got to know Cameron in his first week at Queen’s, supporting them as they come to terms with his death.
“Cameron was by all accounts a happy, enthusiastic young man who was excited to be here,” says Rev Yealland. “He enjoyed Orientation, made fast friends and this loss is obviously a huge shock.”
Rev Yealland would like to organize a memorial for Cameron on campus. “We’ll talk with his family and let everyone know when there are plans in place. It may be a few weeks away.”
A scholarship is being set up to honour Cameron at an area music camp and his high school is establishing a tuition grant in his name.
