Nobel prizewinner headlines Queen's conference
Professor Finn Kydland, 2004 Nobel laureate and Professor of Economics at the University of California Santa Barbara and at Carnegie Mellon University, will visit Queen's this week as a John Weatherall Distinguished Fellow in the Department of Economics. Professor Kydland is the keynote speaker at the 2009 meeting of the Canadian Macroeconomics Study Group, a two-day conference hosted by Queen's on November 6th and 7th.
Professor Kydland received the Nobel Prize with Edward Prescott for their “contributions to dynamic macroeconomics: the time consistency of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles." The Weatherall Visiting Scholar Fund has brought eminent economists to Queen's since 2007.
