PeopleSoft transition timeline update


Transition to the university’s new HR administrative system is scheduled to begin February 17.

“Final testing of the new system and extensive training of several hundred users has been proceeding well, and a tremendous amount of work has been completed to date by everyone engaged in the HR PeopleSoft effort, ” say Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) Alan Harrison and Vice-Principal (Finance and Administration) Caroline Davis, who co-chair the project’s executive team.

Between now and February the transition team will ensure that configurations for individual departments and final updates to the system identified through extensive user testing have been verified. They will also use the time to confirm that appropriate security controls are in place, as well as client services and help desk support for users during the transition.

The HR PeopleSoft system affects the entire university community, as it includes critical production processes, such as payroll. It is enormously complex and it is integrated with Queen’s own Finance and Student systems. The system must also support HR policies, audit requirements and collective agreements, many of which have been recently completed or are in negotiation.

Updates on the project will continue to be provided to the campus community as the transition date approaches.
