The Queen's Centre is open

The Queen’s Centre  is open including student life and club space, and athletics facilities. The new Common Ground student-run coffee shop is twice the size and the fully-functioning food court includes Teriyaki Experience, Booster Juice, Ignite Grill, PIZZA PIZZA and full-service Tim Hortons.

Thousands turned out to get their first inside glimpse of the centre on opening day. More than 100 people streamed through the doors of the new Athletic and Recreation Centre (ARC) at 6 am on Tuesday, eager to be one of the first people to work out in the new facility. By the end of the day, upwards of 10,000 people had visited the ARC and more than 14,000 maps had been given out to people visiting the centre.

The Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) is offering a free trial period in December for faculty, staff and retirees so they can try out the state-of-the-art equipment and exciting new programs.  Memberships  will be available starting January 1, 2010.

A big thank you to the Alma Mater Society and undergraduate students, who in 2005 voted for a fee to support the Queen’s Centre, and to both undergraduate and graduate students for recently voting to increase their athletics and recreation fees significantly to make sure the programs and services that are so important to them will continue into the future.

Take a tour of the ARC from December 3 – 4, at 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm and 4:45 pm. Just drop by the customer service desk to join the tour.
