Queen's performs well on student engagement survey
Queen’s benchmark scores remain strong in the latest National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) conducted last spring. This survey of first and graduating year undergraduate students is conducted by all Ontario universities, all U15 universities, and numerous other universities across Canada every three years.
"These are positive results, but moving forward, it will be important to drill down and use this data to make the student experience even better," says Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic). "We can apply the lessons we learn from this survey data to university planning and programs to enhance all facets of the learning environment."
The benchmarks report on level of academic challenge, active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, enriching educational experiences, and supportive campus environment. Detailed information within each benchmark is important for guiding improvements.
In most categories, Queen’s scores were slightly higher than they were three years ago. In all categories but one, our results are higher than the Ontario average, and are on par with the average for comparable medical-doctoral universities in the U.S.
