Queen's takes gold in women’s soccer


The Gaels took top place in the 2010 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women’s soccer championships, defeating Wilfrid Laurier 1 to 0.

Riley Filon scored the winning goal in overtime.

“The biggest goal of my life!” exclaimed Ms Filion. “I was thinking get the technique right.”

Ms Filion was named to the Tournament All-Star Team along with teammates Melissa Jung and Kelli Chamberlan.

The Gaels never allowed a goal throughout the tournament.

This is the Gaels second national championship title. They won their first in 1988.
