Queen's team displays solar vehicle for North-American challenge
On Thursday, the Queen's University Solar Vehicle Team (QSVT) revealed its 11th car, Aurum, in celebration of its departure for the 2008 North American Solar Challenge this July. The display took place in the afternoon at the Union Gallery (1st Floor Stauffer Library). Team members, sponsors, members of the Queen's community, and friends were on hand for this exciting event. The showing gave supporters the first and only opportunity to view the new and improved car before it departs for competition.
The North American Solar Challenge is a biennial solar car competition taking place July 13 to 22. The Queen's team will compete against 26 teams from around the world in a 3,800 km journey driving the solar vehicle from Dallas, Texas to Calgary, Alberta.
“We hope to prove once again why we are considered by many to be a premier Canadian team in the sport of solar vehicle ‘raycing', as we create meaningful solutions to our society's imminent energy crisis and demonstrate the viability of renewable energy sources,” says the team.
