Special equity workshop for university administrators
Engaging the university’s senior administrators in discussions about equity and diversity is the next step in a plan for improving inclusivity on campus.
The workshop aims to support our top decision makers in discussing and planning their opportunities to demonstrate leadership in equity and diversity. Making inclusivity a standard consideration in current processes – like the academic planning exercise – could lead to progress on educational equity goals and strategies.
“We can all have an impact in moving to a more inclusive environment,” says Principal Daniel Woolf. “ I support every effort toward ensuring our campus is a positive place for learning and working and that all members of our community feel valued and supported.”
The Diversity and Equity Task Force (DET) is organizing the collaborative workshop with Irène Bujara, director of the Human Rights Office and the University Advisor on Equity and Wayne Myles, director of Queen’s University International Centre.
The workshop is one of eight implementation goals released last week in the DET Plan of Action. The Plan of Action is based on an inventory of diversity and equity programs, resources, and initiatives that reflect where we are today with regards to recommendations in past diversity and equity reports.
