Staff negotiations ongoing
Talks aimed at first contracts for four staff groups are continuing.
The university and United Steelworkers Local 2010, the union representing Queen’s staff (salary grades 2-9), are progressing with a number of meetings scheduled for April and May.
The status of each general support position in salary grades 2 to 9 by area/department has been sent to senior university managers and administrators, after a large number of disputed positions were clarified late last year.
Talks are also ongoing between United Steelworkers and Queen’s academic assistants, tutors and markers. The parties have made good progress, reaching agreement on many articles, and further meetings are scheduled in April and May.
The university and the Ontario Public Service employees Union (OPSEU) continue to meet in early stages of negotiation, which began in January.
Finally, talks between the university and its postdoctoral fellows, who are represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will get underway in April. The talks were stalled in December following the departure of the union’s chief spokesperson.
