The Strategic Enrolment Management Group (SEMG), a committee charged with developing a long-term strategic management framework, is expected to release a draft of its work in early February. The framework, which will provide a guide for the development of long-term enrolment strategies and planning processes, will be posted to the Provost’s website for comment from the Queen’s community.

“The framework will outline how we can align our student recruitment, progression and success strategies with the university’s capacity and strategic goals.” says Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) and chair of the SEMG.

Over the course of the development of the framework, the SEMG reviewed a variety of strategic planning documents and received input from faculty, staff, students and the broader Queen’s community. To encourage community engagement and generate campus wide feedback, a white paper was released in September asking specific questions around enrolment, student services and organizational capacity. A summary of feedback on the white paper has been posted to the Provost’s website.

Enrolment planning was also discussed last fall at two town halls organized by the Senate Committee on Academic Development, a joint retreat of the Board and Senate, and University Council’s annual meeting. In addition, the Alma Mater Society developed a policy paper entitled The Rising Tide,
which makes recommendations about potential pathways for Queen’s enrolment planning and outlines several possible factors to be taken into consideration.
