Training sessions popular with users

The first round of QUASR training sessions launched Sept. 21 and were met with an enthusiastic response from campus users. All six initial Introduction to PeopleSoft sessions, covering basic navigation and available training materials, filled immediately. Plans are in the works for 11 more of these sessions in October.

Invitations to core system users for training on financial administrative processes will be issued shortly for courses beginning the week of Oct. 13. Additional sessions for the broader user community will run through December and January. Currently, QUASR is working with Queen’s business officers to ensure that invitations for registration match each of 12 courses with the financial tasks and activities relevant to the participants’ roles.

While the implementation of a new Grants Management module for researchers is not scheduled until 2010, changes related to the implementation of the new Research Accounting system this fall will be of interest to researchers. Information is being prepared for email advisories, faculty/department unit meetings, websites and upcoming Research Town Halls.

Note that the town-hall session planned for Oct. 5 will be rescheduled to mid-October. Points of interest include:

• the new Chart of Accounts structure;

• new procurement processes;

• the new look of some accounting reports for research projects;

• tweaks to Principal Investigator (PI) channels on the MyQueen’s Portal
