United Way goal reached
The Queen’s community has met its $300,000 fundraising goal for the United Way.
"People recognize that times are tough," says Shelley Aylesworth-Spink, staff co-chair of the university's annual campaign. "Their immediate thought is 'this is what I can do to help.'" Donations are still coming in and Ms Aylesworth-Spink says every dollar goes back to the community.
"The United Way supports true need in our community," says Ms Aylesworth-Spink. "It's more than programs. It's things like winter shoes for families and ensuring that people have heat in the cold months. When economic times are tough, the United Way is often the place that gives bare-bones support."
Tomorrow December 8 and Wednesday December 9, the AMS is organizing wishing wells in the Stauffer and Douglas Libraries. Students, faculty and staff can drop by, throw in some change and make a wish.
