Kudos to Dr. Jolly! How grand to see that an author of J.M. Coetzee's stature came to Kingston and Queen's. I had the wonderful opportunity to take IDIS 300: "Topics in Philosophy and Literature" in 1996 that Dr. Jolly co-taught with Dr. Susan Babbitt (Philosophy). I am not sure if they ever offered that course again, but it was one of the finest courses I took through my entire time at Queen's.

Given their respective interests at the time, the texts chosen were all by African authors such as Chinua Achebe, Miriam Tlali, Wole Soyinka, and Kwame Anthony Appiah. It was my first introduction to any African literature or writing and it was both eye-opening and profoundly engaging.
