Abdel Fattah el-Sisi elected Egyptian president: Queen's University expert
University Middle East expert Houchang Hassan-Yari is available to comment on Abdel Fattah el-Sisi being elected Egyptian president with more than 95 per cent of the popular vote.
“How legitimate is his election is in light of a very low turnout,” asks Dr. Hassan-Yari, “and what can he possibly do to (re)gain his people’s trust? The challenges he faces in Egypt include the economy in disarray, insecurity and world politics.”
Please note that Dr. Hassan-Yari (who speaks French, English and Farsi) wants to be identified in the media as a Middle East expert from Queen’s University and Royal Military College.
