Actor Randy Quaid's Dec. 23 refugee hearing
Queen’s University law professor and immigration expert Sharryn Aiken is available to discuss U.S. actor Randy Quaid’s bid to become a Canadian refugee. His next appearance at an Immigration and Refugee Board in Vancouver is on December 23.
Professor Aiken, who is also the Associate Dean of the Queen’s Faculty of Law, can describe the process and requirements a person needs to become a refugee. Professor Aiken feels the actor may be deemed ineligible to pursue an asylum claim in Canada due to outstanding criminal charges in the U.S. Also, very few asylum claims are accepted from people in the U.S.
