Airline merger
Queen’s University School of Business professor Douglas Reid is available to discuss the merger of United and Continental airlines. The $3 billion deal will create the world’s largest airline.
“It’s a coping strategy for that part of the industry which cannot reinvent itself,” Professor Reid says of the merger. “But it won't endure.”
Professor Reid is an expert on the airline industry. He teaches and conducts research in business strategy. As a researcher, Professor Reid specializes in studying intercompany alliance dynamics and large alliance evolution, drawing on an extensive single-industry database that he has compiled.
