Bank of Canada interest rate/Stats Canada building permits report

2012-03-09

Queen’s University real estate expert John Andrew is available to talk about the building permit data released today by Stats Can, as well as tomorrow’s release of the new housing pricing index and the Bank of Canada’s rate announcement. Building permits declined by 12% in January, in stark contrast to a significant increase in December. Given that building permits are an early indicator of the housing and real estate markets, what does this mean?

Dr. Andrew is a real estate professor in the School of Urban and Regional Planning professor and School of Business, and director of the Queen’s Real Estate Roundtable. He comments regularly in the media about real estate-related news.
