BHP walks away from Potash
Queen’s University School of Business Professor Louis Gagnon is available to discuss BHP’s decision to walk away from a potential Potash deal. The company has announced it is scrapping the $40 billion takeover bid after the deal was recently rejected by the Canadian government.
“This decision says more about BHP than it does about Canada’s openness to doing business,” says Professor Gagnon. “In spite of the company’s decision, Canada remains one of the most attractive places for foreign direct investments.”
Professor Gagnon, who speaks English and French, is a professor in the Queen’s School of Business and an expert on capital markets and risk-management. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Toronto. Dr. Gagnon's research is published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
