Canada/India nuclear energy deal: Queen's University expert
Queen’s University energy policy expert Warren Mabee is available to talk about the nuclear deal between Canada and India that would allow Canadian companies to send uranium to Asia.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who is currently in India, is expected to make the announcement today.
“Canada’s imminent deal on uranium exports to India is a positive step forward, and a welcome reminder of the diversity of Canada’s energy sector. It is important to remember that our partnership with India has also included significant technology transfer in the past. As we move forward it is worthwhile thinking about the importance of balancing our role as a provider of raw materials with our ability to provide the know-how and technology to use these materials,” says Dr. Mabee, the director of the Queen's University Institute for Energy & Environmental Policy and a School of Policy Studies professor.
Please note on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Dr. Mabee is not available between 1-2:30 and 3-3:30 pm.
