Canada/U.S. Buy American deal
Queen’s University Policy Studies Professor Robert Wolfe is available to talk about the Canada/U.S. Buy American deal.
“It’s not too late for this deal. A lot of the U.S. stimulus spending has already been spent and it would have been better to have this deal six months ago. But this is not the end of Washington’s spending money, nor is it the end of Congress trying to put up barriers against foreigners,” says Professor Wolfe. “There is new legislation coming from Congress in which the same provisions could be put. Let’s stop American protectionism from happening again.”
From 1976 to 1995, Professor Wolfe was a foreign service officer with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, serving abroad in Dhaka, Bangladesh (1977-79) and in the Canadian Delegation to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris (1981-85). He started at Queen’s in 1995.
