Canadians are waiting too long for treatment
Queen’s University professor Christopher Simpson is available to comment on surgery wait times in Canada being the longest in 18 years. The report was issued by the Fraser Institute.
"The Fraser Institute report is consistent with what the WTA has been saying - while some progress has been made in the so-called priority areas, too many Canadians are still waiting for too long to receive the treatment they need,” said Dr. Simpson. The wait times are 104 per cent longer than they were in 1993, the report indicated.
Dr. Simpson is the chair of the Wait Time Alliance, a federation of 13 national medical specialty societies and the Canadian Medical Association. He is available after 3 p.m. today.
