Government cancels $800 million military truck contract: Queen's University expert
Queen’s University military procurement expert Ugurhan Berkok is available to talk about the federal government cancelling an $800 million military truck competition. The decision came minutes before companies were supposed to hand in their bids and after they already spent millions on proposals.
Dr. Berkok says this is the latest example of the federal government delaying military procurements.
“This news isn’t surprising. The federal government has been dragging their feet on the $34 billion shipbuilding contracts. Compared to that, this $800 million dollar military truck competition isn’t significant. If you combine this with the close combat vehicle competition which has also been delayed, a slippage pattern emerges,” says Dr. Berkok.
Please note that Dr. Berkok is only available for phone interviews.
