Hospital wait times report

Queen’s University Professor Chris Simpson is available to discuss a report released by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) on hospital wait times.

This CIHI study includes updated information on provincial wait times reporting as of December 2009. This fifth consecutive annual report provides an overview of provincial information on wait times for priority areas: joint replacements, sight restoration, cardiac surgery, cancer and diagnostic imaging. New this year, the report includes wait times for hip fracture surgery and cardiac bypass by priority level.

Dr. Simpson is the head of the Division of Cardiology at the Queen’s University School of Medicine and Head of Cardiology at Kingston General Hospital. He co-chaired a conference on wait times in 2007 called ‘Waiting for Medical Care 2007 – Writing the Script for Success – From Dialogue to Action.’
