How will the new China, Russia natural gas deal affect Canada: Queen's University expert
Queen’s University energy policy expert Warren Mabee is available to comment on the new 30 year natural gas deal between China and Russia signed today. The deal will send gas from Siberia by pipeline to China. Beginning in 2018, Russia will supply 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas each year.
“How will China’s new natural gas deal with Russia affect Canada’s plans for LNG exports?,” asks Dr. Mabee. “In the long term, this development could soften natural gas prices in the Asia-Pacific market and erode the profitability of long-range ocean delivery.”
Dr. Mabee is the director of the Queen’s University Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy. He is available between noon and 3:30 pm today.
