Jim Flaherty steps down, Joe Oliver steps in: Queen's University expert

2014-03-19

Queen’s University federal politics expert Erin Crandall is available to comment on the resignation of Jim Flaherty and incoming finance minister Joe Oliver.

"After months of speculation, Jim Flaherty’s resignation marks the departure of one of Canada’s longest serving finance ministers and opens the door for a cabinet shuffle amongst Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s senior ministers,” says Dr. Crandall. “The new Minister of Finance Joe Oliver will be responsible for the budget that will lead the Conservatives into the 2015 election.”

Dr. Crandall is the Skelton-Clark Postdoctoral Fellow in Canadian Affairs in the Queen’s political studies department and teaches courses in Canadian government and Canadian politics.

Dr. Crandall is only available for print interviews.
