One year anniversary of Lac-Megantic: Queen's University expert
Queen’s University expert Jill Scott is available to comment on the social dynamics of public and private grief in regards to the one year anniversary of the Lac Megantic explosion. The anniversary is Sunday, July 6 and the town of 6,000 is still mourning those lost.
“The Lac Mégantic explosion was a tragedy of enormous proportions for the small town community in Quebec,” says Dr. Scott. “The wounds are no doubt still raw and the mourning has just begun. It is hard to know how to mark the first anniversary of the catastrophic explosion, and only those most deeply affected can say whether public commemorations or private gatherings will be the most meaningful.”
Dr. Scott is the author of A Poetics of Forgiveness (Palgrave, 2010).
Please note Dr. Scott is only available for phone interviews.
