Queen's expert surprised by recently-released Home Price Index numbers

2014-05-15

Queen’s University real estate expert John Andrew is available to comment on the MLS Home Price Index numbers released today.

“While the five per cent year-over-year increase in the national MLS Home Price Index in April was in line with my expectations, I was surprised that the volume of existing home sales actually fell 0.3 per cent year-over-year,” says Dr. Andrew. “April saw only a 2.7 per cent increase in sales from March, which is far below what was needed to revive a very slow spring real estate market. The number of newly listed homes increased only 2.9 per cent month-over-month.”

Dr. Andrew can also comment on sales in specific cities including Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton.
