Silver Spire installed on One World Trade Center: Queen's University expert

Queen’s University expert Jill Scott is an expert in public mourning and is available to comment on the silver spire being installed on One World Trade Center.

“The silver spire being installed on One World Trade Center might be said to put closure on the grief about loses of 9/11,” says Dr. Scott. “The 408 foot spire symbolizes the triumph of America and its return to its former glorious position as an invincible nation. But tall buildings are also blatant symbols of power and aggression, and so the politics surrounding Ground Zero and whether it should remain a public memorial or be integrated back into the fabric of the city are unlikely to go away.”

Please note Dr. Scott is only available by phone.
