Speech from the Throne aimed to win over the average Canadian: Queen's University expert

2013-11-12
Queen’s University School of Policy Studies professor Kathy Brock is available to talk about yesterday's Throne Speech and what she heard from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“The Conservatives plan to be the first out of the blocks in preparation for the 2015 federal election with the Speech from the Throne. And they are going to do what they do best—promise Canadians economic and personal security with a few bonuses thrown into the mix,” says Dr. Brock. “Count on a throne speech that aims to win the hearts of average Canadians who are vacillating between parties especially in the 905 region, the west.”

Dr. Brock is an expert in politics and has over 20 years of experience commenting on party strategy, political issues and election campaigns. Her research covers political leadership and federal-provincial issues. She has published four books on government relations with the nonprofit sector and numerous articles and chapters on Canadian government and politics.

Please note that Dr. Brock is only available after noon.
