Twitter shutdown: Queen's University expert
Queen’s University social media expert Sidneyeve Matrix is available to talk about Twitter crashing for more than one hour today starting around noon.
Many people on-line have jokingly panicked about the loss of service – which Dr. Matrix says shows how much people have become attached to Twitter and social media.
“The Twitter service shutdown really brings to life how much we are relying on this app – not just for status updates from friends – but as a mainstream news source. The satirical responses that are appearing on other social media websites such as ‘Twitter is broke, my life has no meaning anymore’ is evidence society has become accustomed to real-time updates and information,” says Dr. Matrix, a Film and Media Studies professor who specializes in social media, technology and mass communications.
Please note Dr. Matrix is only available for phone interviews.
To arrange an interview, please contact communication officers Anne Craig at 613-533-2877 or anne.craig@queensu.ca or Michael Onesi at 613.533.6000 ext. 77513 or michael.onesi@queensu.at Queen’s University News and Media Services Department in Kingston, Ont., Canada.
