A memorial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action against Violence against Women, to commemorate the 14 women killed in the Montreal Massacre at Ecole Polytechnique in 1989.
Jacqueline Davies (Philosophy and Women's Studies) will speak about violence against women in aboriginal societies. The lecture will be followed by a rose ceremony in remembrance of the lives of the victims of the massacre.
The memorial, organized by The Equality Issues Committee of the Engineering Society and the Committee on Gender of the AMS, is open to all members of the Queen's and Kingston communities. It will start at 3 pm in Wallace Hall in the Upper JDUC. Coffee, tea and treats will be served following the service.
