Campus Community Appeal kicks off with breakfast
The Queen’s Campus Community Appeal Kick-off Breakfast will take place on Wednesday, February 3 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am at Grant Hall. Principal Daniel Woolf will address attendees at 8 am. All faculty, staff and retirees are invited to attend regardless if they have made a donation to the campaign.
“We kick off the campaign with a breakfast because it seems to be the best time of day for people to attend. It’s really an opportunity for faculty, staff and retirees to get together and celebrate all the accomplishments that contribute to our success as a university,” says Lisa Drysdale, Campus Community Appeal Campaign Coordinator.
Besides free bacon and pancakes, there will be door prize draws, and student groups and faculty/staff members including the Queen’s Jazz Combo, the Queen’s Band and Queen’s a cappella group The Caledonias, will perform throughout the morning. In addition, a showcase will display the work of groups from across campus.
The entire morning is organized and facilitated by dedicated volunteers who play an integral part in the success of the entire campaign.
“The volunteers contribute a tremendous amount of effort, time and talent to the Appeal, and the breakfast in particular,” adds Ms Drysdale, “It's reaffirming to work with such talented colleagues across campus; they shape the Appeal each year, and they are passionate about getting the message out that it's participation, not dollar amount, that counts most in this campaign.”
The Campus Community Appeal is the major workplace fundraising campaign for Queen’s and runs from February to April. For more information, including an entertainment and celebrity server schedule for the Kick-off Breakfast, visit www.queensu.ca/communityappeal.
