Changes coming to student administration systems
Access to the student information system and QCARD will be limited leading up to the launch of the new student administration system the week of March 8.
For students, QCARD will be permanently shut down on March 4 at 5 pm. The new SOLUS Student Centre will begin operating on March 9 at 7 am. Between those two dates, students will be unable to access any QCARD services.
Faculty and staff will also begin using the new student administration system on March 9. PCICS will be unavailable the weekend of March 4, with read-only access available on March 7-8 and no access after that point.
“We want to ensure that faculty, staff and students are aware of these changes as we prepare to implement the PeopleSoft student administration system,” says University Registrar Jo-Anne Brady.
Faculty members will submit their grades electronically into the PeopleSoft system this term using the current grading system. Instructors will receive information directly later this term about how to use the PeopleSoft Faculty Centre including the new grade submission system.
The new grading system will come into effect May 1. New transcripts will be produced as of May 1; until then, the current transcript format will be used.
“As faculty and staff face a steep learning curve to tackle the new processes in PeopleSoft, we will have a dedicated support system, phone line and website to log issues, and we will respond to problems and challenges as quickly as possible,” says Ms Brady. “We are also arranging to continue to have training support available in the months after the launch.’”
General information about the new student administration system can be found online. Information about the grading system and transcript changes has been posted on the Registrar’s Office website.
Students are encouraged to complete their QCARD transactions as soon as possible. Courses can still be dropped until March 4 at 5 pm.
